According to some free software is a fundamental requirement for fully free hospitality exchange networks. (See also Wikipedia) Free software will make it easier to implement new, other uses within networks.

The Hospitality Club software used to be free a long time ago. An old version of the software is available at SourceForge.

BeWelcome is currently the only hospitality exchange network where all software used is free.

CouchSurfing is mostly running on a free software stack, but the actual website code is far from free.

What is free software?

(too short :)

  1. Right to use for anything.
  2. Right to copy.
  3. Right to modify.
  4. Right to distribute modifications.
