Hey Ashuri! BeWelcome at Couchwiki and thank you for your contributions. Midsch (talk) 19:37, 6 March 2013 (CET)

Thanks! I'm going to do my best to contribute to my local community page (Helsinki) and around the site. Hopefully we get get other groups utilising this wiki; as I sorely believe we need an alternate hub that is separate from couchsurfing itself(and other hospitality networks). --Ashuri (talk) 19:49, 6 March 2013 (CET)

"Optional, but important: get verified. It tells your potential host that you are a real person with a real address and hence are more likely to be trustworthy."

Hi Ashuri! Are you aware of the issues with CS verification system? It's very easy to use someone else's credit card and address - and someone with malicious intent would definitely be able to do this, without even breaking the law. Instead of promoting this scam (in my opinion) I think it would be better to add a warning about it.

BeWelcome's verification system on the other hand, is based on p2p verification. People can verify each other's ID card or passport. This could still be faked but requires an illegal fake ID or passport. All members have the possibility to verify (which increases the possibility for fakes) but there are trusted verification volunteers whose verifications counts higher - and at some point BeWelcome could do something smart based on this information. Well, and otherwise improve the system as it's not set in stone. guaka (talk) 09:59, 7 March 2013 (CET)

Hi - I assume you are refer to the article I transferred to my sandbox. I wanted to write a step-by-step newbie guide to search for a couch on CouchSurfing (the website, not in general, as in specific-step where to click, etc) as we are having a lot of problems with newbies on the place pages. I was not aware of the security issues and of course we should include this. How about an article 'Verification' breaking down the different verification systems, security issues, features comparisons, etc. --Ashuri (talk) 11:09, 7 March 2013 (CET)
