L'Hôtel de Ville est situé dans le cœur de Tours, place Jean-Jaures.
Il fut construit entre 1896 et 1904 par l'architecte tourangeau Victor Laloux.

La cathédrale St Gatien fut construite entre 1170 et 1547.
It is classified Historic building since 1862.

Cette basilique a été édifiée entre 1886 et 1924 par Victor Laloux dans un style néo-byzantin en l'honneur de l'évêque Saint Martin (de 371 à 397), connu dans le monde entier pour avoir partagé son manteau avec un pauvre. Son geste est le symbole universel du partage. La crypte abrite encore le tombeau du Saint.
This basilica was built between 1886 and 1924 by Victor Laloux in a neo-byzantin style in honour of the Bishop Saint Martin (371-397), known the world over to have shared his coat with a poor person. His gesture is the universal symbol of sharing. The crypt still shelters the Saint's tomb.
Une autre Basilique fut construite en hommage à St Martin, évêque de la ville de 371 à 397, du XIième au XIIIième siècle.
Elle fut saccagée pendant les guerres de religion. Il n'en reste plus que la tour Charlemagne.
Another Basilica was built between the 11th and 13th centuries in honor of St Martin, Bishop of the city between 371 and 397.
It was destroyed during the wars of religion. All that remains of the cathedral today is the Charlemagne tower.
Le Château de Tours borde la Loire, il a été construit par les Comtes de Blois qui sont devenus également Vicomtes puis Comtes de Tours à partir du Xème siècle. Il a été reconstruit par les Comtes d'Anjou à partir du milieu du XIème siècle à l'issue de leur prise le contrôle de la Touraine aux dépens des Comtes de Blois. Le château est renforcé par Henri II Plantagenet vers 1160. Il a été endommagé lors des luttes entre le roi de France Philippe Auguste et les Plantagenets à la fin du XIIème siècle. Après la conquête française en 1204 par Philippe Auguste, le roi de France Philippe III le Hardi le restaure à la fin du XIIIème siècle. Aujourd'hui, le château abrite des expositions contemporaines (Joan Miró, Daniel Buren...) et l'atelier d'histoire de Touraine y présente des documents archéologiques, historiques, des maquettes, des montages audio-visuels concernant l'histoire de la ville de Tours.
The Château de Tours (castle of Tours) stands on the banks of the Loire. It was built by the Earls of Blois who became the Viscounts and then the Earls of Tours from the 5th century. It was reconstructed by the Earls of Anjou from the middle of the 6th century following their gain of the control of the Touraine region at the expense of the Earls of Blois. The castle was fortified by Henri II Plantagenet around 1160. It was damaged during the battles between Philippe Auguste, the King of France and the Plantagenets at the end of the 7th century. In 1204, after the French conquest by Philippe Auguste, the castle was restaured by King Philippe III le Hardi at the end of the 8th century. Today the castle is home to contemporary exhibitions (Joan Miró, Daniel Buren etc) aswell as the history workshop of Touraine where archeological and historical documents, blueprints, and audio-visual montages concerning the history of Tours can be visited.
