GlobalFreeLoaders is a text-based site only (no pictures).

It is great if you want to ask for accomandation to several peoples (as you just need to mark them) and your letter goes to all of them. It is rather small compared to Hospitality Club and Couchsurfing. Also, the website's system is not ideal. It is a bit tedious to find references written to others, though also recommandable, since contact is directly over email, so the system is a lot less secure.

Beware of hosts in Lima, Peru. Most might be okay, but at least one, who offers to come and pick you up from the bus terminal, is known to actually keep you in his house before you are allowed to leave.

GlobalFreeLoaders has more than 70.000 members (November 2009).

Criticism

Some people complain about the nature of the mass-mailings that constitute the main activity of GlobalFreeLoaders. Because users no longer need to look at profiles and search for the ideal host, they often just write a very general message and mass-mail it to 50 or 100 people in the desired city. Needless to say, many members do not feel the need to answer this type of mails.
