General announcement.

For those that don't know: [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dnL00TdmLY What's a wiki?]
And this is one example on how it's been used in the past by this group: '''ADAPT!!!!!!''' http://wiki.couchsurfing.org/en/Hamburg_Krakow_invasion

Following the repeated intention from the admin of this website to delete the content of the wiki that is not travelguide-like. Someone finally opened a couchsurfing wiki for all other content. It is there: [http://couchwiki.org couchwiki.org]

To see the details of the wiki battle between the admins and the users, visit the [http://www.couchsurfing.org/group.html?gid=3727 wiki group]. In particular those threads:
[http://www.couchsurfing.org/group_read.html?gid=3727&post=2566865 March 2009: original annoucement].
[http://www.couchsurfing.org/group_read.html?gid=3727&post=2837321 April: Edits will be restricted to a small team]
[http://www.couchsurfing.org/group_read.html?gid=3727&post=2755486 4 months waiting for an answer from the coordinator]
[http://www.couchsurfing.org/group_read.html?gid=3727&post=3981801 October: Confirmation that the wiki will be turned into a travelguide and all other content will be deleted]

Now two possibility: You want to share information about Hamburg, tips, places to visit, or you want to share community information, or anything else that does not fall in the first possibility:

In the second case, you should NOT use the CS wiki, cause your content would be deleted in time. You should use [http://couchwiki.org couchwiki.org], that is meant to have all sort of content.

In the first case, my advice is still that you do NOT use the CS travelguide wiki if it ever sees the light of day. I got good reasons: It has a very restrictive licence that makes its content unusable, in particular by the contributors themselves. And most important: There is a participative travelguide that already exists and that is very successful and that already has a [http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/1.0/ flexible licence]. It is called [http://wikitravel.org/en/Main_Page wikitravel]. They are both based on the same software so they are identical to use. It is counterproductive to write the Bible twice.

Trust the geek on such matters.

So, what I'm going to do right now, is take all the pages that I have created on the CS wiki and move them over there. Some of those pages have been edited by some members of this group and I need permission from the following users before I do that:

'''LIST OF EDITORS'''

In the absence of massmailing tool, I find it faster to do that here.
