Food in Karlsruhe is generally a little more expensive than in other parts of Germany. Expect 6-10 EUR for a pizza, and 4 EUR for a Döner Kebap.

The turkish restaurants around the university tend to be a little cheaper, some even have student discounts (and usually don't ask for a proof that you're a student).

"Cafe Bleu"-Chain

There is a little local chain, consistnig of 4 restaurants that have pretty cheap food. These are:

  • Cafe Emaille, Kaiserstraße, close to Europaplatz.
  • Cafe Bleu, Kaiserallee 11, next tram station Mühlburger Tor
  • Die Kippe, Gottesauer Straße close to Durlacher Tor
  • Cafe Galerie in Durlach right at the tram station Auer Straße.

All of these have breakfast all day from 2,90 EUR (without drinks) and 8 different daily menus (at least one vegetarian) for 3,90 EUR. It's simple food, but the servings are huge.
