*<br/> ''The Château de Tours (castle of Tours) stands on the banks of the Loire. The castle was fortified by Henri II Plantagenet around 1160. It was damaged during the battles between Philippe Auguste, the King of France and the Plantagenets at the end of the 7th century. In 1204, after the French conquest by Philippe Auguste, the castle was restaured by King Philippe III le Hardi at the end of the 8th century. Today the castle is home to contemporary exhibitions (Joan Miró, Daniel Buren etc) aswell as the history workshop of Touraine where archeological and historical documents, blueprints, and audio-visual montages concerning the history of Tours can be visited.''
