There's also a version of [http://couchwiki.org/fr/ Couchwiki in French] now :) The links aren't working properly yet. I'll happily set up other languages if there's enough interest, (especially German, Dutch, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian or Swedish). We just need some people (or even just one person) who is willing to take care of it enough, i.e. put up a front page and check for spam regularly, and ideally make sure there are new articles every week. If we could find an extension to display a context-sensitive sitemap based on the categories of a page, wouldn't that be awesome? Maybe this could even be done with jquery, so the browser could cache the category information between requests, and it doesn't add up to page size.

== Basic Organization of the wiki ==
Well there are a few pages and enough interest to start talking a little bit about how to organize the wiki. So far there seem to be 3 kinds of pages- location guide pages, pages about the wiki, and other pages. The later two will sort themselves out but the location guides follow an obvious logical hierarchy- World, region, country, (state,province), city, and extra pages attached to one of those levels like "Cycling in Germany" or "100 things to do in.." simple wiki links and templates could keep the pages organized according to the above logic and categories could help enforce it. does everyone pretty much agree on this?

Wikimedia is likely to [http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Travel_Guide start a travel guide], mainly thanks to a group of Wikitravel admins who can't deal any more with Internet Brand. Considering the current status of Couchwiki it could be very interesting to see if it's possible to also merge Couchwiki into the WMF travel guide. Being non profit (forever) and about traveling it suits the spirit. It would be a big advantage in maintenance and it would also promote hospitality exchange (not just couchsurfing) to a larger audience that is hopefully more inclined to choose non profit hospex (especially the active editors). == Moderation team ==

BW's forum is moderated by the moderation team, which coordinates itself in a private group.
This team was created in 2006 [http://www.bewelcome.org/wiki/Annual_report_2006-2007], and was then named "Forum team". In 2007-2008, it intervened a first time (by a warning), but this team started to be busy in 2011 [http://downloads.bewelcome.org/BeVolunteer%20Annual%20Report%202011_2012.pdf], when the forum activity increased.

== Removal of posts ==

* In March 2013, invitations to Seek the duck (a toulousan event promoting BW) were [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crossposting cross posted] 79 times. Groups and forum were then displayed on the same page, and some members have perceived an irritating disruption of all other on-going threads of the forum. After several days of crossposting, 79 copy-pastes of the same message were eventually deleted by a member of the moderation team because there was a clear infraction of Forum & Groups rules.
This opened a debate [http://www.bewelcome.org/forums/s5417] about many topics including moderation.

Local members later reposted [http://www.bewelcome.org/forums/s5378 the message] in their groups, and it was made sticky, which made it very visible for a while, but the moderation has not changed the ruling about the infraction to the rules.

It can easily be claimed that this incident itself is not censorship as only 79 repeatition of the very same message were deleted, and the original post was kept, which some consider as less of a restriction of your freedom of speech.

* In June 2013, [http://www.bewelcome.org/forums/s7625 Concerns on censorship/moderation] a forum post by Puneet, about his deleted forum post that contained an offtopic unsolicited offer of his professional services for money in a local group forum.

== Banning of members ==

In December 2012, Tim Loal, notorious (some would say ''infamous'') for being vocal about the management of BW, was banned ''from the forums'' for one year. This ban was the first of its kind and happened after repeated violations against the site's official [http://www.bewelcome.org/terms terms], 3 official warnings and 2 short-term bans which had separate warnings and were lifted to allow for better behaviour. A [http://www.bewelcome.org/groups/917 protest group] was created.

Member profiles that are created solely for sending spam to other members are banned ''from the site'' on a daily basis, usually after abuse is reported.
